Hello fellow members: we've had a busy year in 2017. Here's a recap of the many events KSCD has enjoyed.
The New Year kicked off with the Annual Burns' Nicht and a splendid time was had by all. Sixty members and friends attended, so if you’re thinking of going this January 2018 get your ticket order in early by letting Fred know.
April 1 was Kelowna Spring Fling time. Excellent programme, well attended and folks had a great time.
KSCD members conveyed a heartfelt thank you to Shelagh for her dedication to teaching over 25 years. We're glad to say that Shelagh and Garry continue to dance with KSCD!
Also in April Vernon SCD held their Workshop & Ceilidh. Instructor Bernadette Thill from Edmonton and music from Mary Ross. Simply superb day (mark your calendars for next year's event).
Spring end-of-season wind up was well attended by dancers and lots of fun.
In August, members attended a picnic at the home of Jan Loughlin. Thank you Jan! This was a great opportunity for members to see each other again and start talking about SCD!
September was Open House Night and we welcomed three new members: Kristen, Mary-Anne and Kathy and sincerely hope that they will be returning in the New Year.
Some of our members have been having some health issues and they have been missed at dancing! Those members are in our thoughts and we do hope to see everyone back in the New Year.
October and November some KSCD members travelled to Salt Spring Island and Asilomar, San Francisco, CA to attend workshops and dances. Other members attended the Sons of Scotland, St. Andrew’s Celebration in Vernon to enjoy a night’s entertainment of dinner, dancing and music.
December ended our year with our Christmas Social. Well what a night we had, dancing, singing, eating, and socialising! It really doesn’t get any better. Eighteen dancers attended and had a super time.
This camaraderie is so important because KSCD members meet and mingle with other clubs which keeps SCD on the map! Yes, there’s a lot of Scottishness going on out there and it’s heartening to know that lots of our members take advantage of these events.
Photos of most of these events can be viewed on the Events and Photos tab on the website. You may even see yourself there! Better check that out eh?
So we come to the end of another year (nearly) and look forward to the next year!
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and All the best for 2018!
